Network Terms of Private Adoption Listings

ATTENTION OWNERS CONTACTING US REGARDING A FREE LISTING!!!!
We appreciate this is a very difficult situation for any pet owner, but we need to re-emphasize these very important responsibilities that must be taken more seriously if you are to be offered our network services:

  • For your dog's best future welfare, it is of essential importance that every pets' health and temperament issues are fully disclosed, in this initial correspondence as well as later to potential homes. Vet contact information is now required in all non-shelter listings to verify medical history, current health issues, and their suggested treatments. Once a new home is found, copies of medical documentation and vet records, and/or any issued medications to maintain your dog's current health and welfare must be surrendered with the dog at time of rehoming. Please click here for a complete list of the other placement expectations.

  • Please note the last and most important detail of our placement guide, as we expect everyone listed to provide all transitional follow-up support with the new owners, and if necessary, be willing to take the dog back if the new home choice does not work out. This applies to all new homes found, whether or not directly located from our network assistance.

  • If your dog has been found with major health or temperament problems that cannot be safely rescued or rehomed, we cannot list your pet!!! If available, we can refer you to the closest rescue organization for objective evaluation, but we cannot guarantee the success of any other assistance without your dedicated and/or financial effort to resolve your pets' issue(s).

I am eternally grateful for majority of responsible contacts we've had over the years, but for the general protection of all pets being rehomed in the future, there will be no exceptions to these new policies. We know in our hearts that everyone has the capability to care enough to make this effort to do what's right for their pets in need. We thank you for your cooperation and look forward to doing everything we can to continue helping needy pets and their owners.

These free listings are for spayed/neutered Chinese Shar-pei (or Shar-pei mix that look purebred) pets only! Dogs that are not altered prior to submission/adoption are subject to dismissal. All other medical care / treatments are highly recommended to be at minimum initiated if not completed prior to adoption, to allow each pet the time needed to bond with their new owner before needing any vet care. Responsible owners, shelter volunteers, or breeders, who take in unwanted pets, meet the above adoption standards, and are willing to keep them until rehomed, are welcome to apply for our free PAL Adoption listings. Organized breed rescue group listings are promoted separately and will not be included in this feature. Adoption fees create a mutual understanding of value and responsibility that must be encouraged to protect your dog's future welfare. Even when the dog is medically updated prior to rescue, we still highly discourage giving away or promoting animals "free to good home", due to the undesirable homes and commercial entrepreneurs that this "no cost" option can attract. If you don't want to keep the money, you can always put it to good use by donating it to your favorite charity or rescue shelter.

History of illness, injury, or aggression must also be disclosed to be accepted for any other featured promotions. Because of this enforced disclosure policy, we do not otherwise discriminate against any reasonably fixable health or temperament issues, and leave the issue of adoptability up to each individual's expectations and standards. We must maintain direct email contact with the responsible party at all times to maintain the listings on our site. We reserve the right to decline or drop any listing if found wrongfully informed or maintained, as determined by our network disclaimer. We also do our best to fairly research and represent each profile published, and reserve the right to edit profiles as necessary, but will not be held liable for any negative feedback or unsuccessful adoption contacts.

To accept listings, dogs must follow these rescue requirements:

  • rescued adults must be altered prior to adoption; rescued puppies as part of adoption terms
  • medically updated on annual vaccinations and monthly heartworm preventative
  • receive any other needed treatments / surgeries prior to adoption
  • placed for a reasonable adoption fee to help defray costs of rehabilitation (spay/neuter, vaccinations, treatments, surgeries)

Breeder / retail sale listings are not allowed! All pets must be spayed/neutered.

If you would like to add a listing, please send us this online submission form. We also have more detailed email or PDF versions available to send back via email / mail. For your privacy / protection, we will no longer share owner surrender information with any 3rd party, privately or publicly, but will continue to forward any interested applications to manage with your own discretion and responsibility. Please read our disclaimer for complete details.

DISCLAIMER: This network pledges to do its best to fairly promote the needs of several different shelters, organizations, and individuals, but we cannot held responsible for their actions nor will be held liable for evaluating, authorizing, and/or approving adoption any of these listings. While we may promote regional independent groups in general, we do not promote any other group's listings unless personally evaluated. We are not privately associated with any one particular group, nor have the official capacity to pull or personally rescue dogs from shelters according to our our state laws of Virginia. We will do all we can to promote and secure sponsorships for any needy adoptable animal, but also reserve the right to reject or decline listings that we deem as unadoptable or unsuitable for network compatibility. Not all organizations or individuals listed on this site share the same evaluating and euthanasia guidelines. Prospective adopters are encouraged to learn more about the prospective dog and agent before any adoption contract is signed. Please read our network disclaimer for complete details.
