Of course, even with all of this information, it is important to speak directly to
educated breeders, owners, and veterinarians to get a true image of what owning a Chinese
Shar-Pei will be like. We also recommend attending area dog shows, to get a better idea of
what the standard quality should be. There are always "backyard" pet breeders, shelters, and/or novice rescuers that pass off mixed breeds or other disqualified puppies as A.K.C. registered / debatable purebred dogs to uneducated owners, so it is important to be informed.
