Of course, even with all of this information, it is important to speak directly to
educated breeders, owners, rescuers, and shar-pei friendly veterinarians to get a true image of what owning a Chinese
Shar-Pei will be like. We also recommend attending area dog shows, to get a better idea of
what the standard quality should be. There are always "backyard" pet breeders, shelters, and/or novice rescuers that pass off mixed breeds or other disqualified puppies as questionable purebred dogs to uneducated owners, so it is important to be informed about choosing the dog that meets both your needs and expectations.
