We do not support or endorse any posing agent not included in our list of referred contacts. We expect the highest standards of integrity, responsibility, and professionalism from every organization we support, but can only rectify any legitimate concerns our viewers may encounter through our referred contacts. Caution is highly recommended, to verify any other rescue agents or groups in question have the legal documentation and authorization to rescue, prior to making any arrangements regarding the safety and welfare of any rescued pets, especially if traveling outside the regional area.

NETWORK DISCLAIMER: This Rescue Network site is not in any capacity an official organization, but simply an independent network of volunteers that have chosen to put aside political differences in efforts to provide experienced mentoring and rescue support within our rescue community as a whole. Our primary goals for this site are 1) rescue prevention to educate owners about our breed and better understand their Chinese Shar-pei, and 2) self-help rehoming assistance to find responsible homes for as many needy pets as possible. Neither our Pal-Pei Yahoo Group or this Network site are considered official "rescue" groups, nor do we have any intentions to become or replace the capacity of any existing official rescue organizations. These virtual portals have been simply developed to provide us a venue to educate our viewers and promote all needy pets within our network community. All actual rescue, foster, and rehabilitation responsibilities, expenses, and documentation for rescued animals are handled by each separate group or individual sponsored by the national clubs. We specifically provide free listing services and self-help adoption placement pages to help any approved owners/agents through the rehoming process, and offer no other claims than these virtual support services.

Prospective families are openly forewarned that policies and procedures regarding adoptability and quality of life may vary independently within our rescue community, therefore caution is advised when choosing the right pet for your home and lifestyle. We encourage your objectivity and patience in your decision process. Times of emotional duress, loneliness, or recent loss may not be the most appropriate time to make a lifetime commitment to another pet. For everyone's benefit, we also recommend prospective families educate themselves about what they want and prefer in a pet, to avoid as many pitfalls and mistakes that can be made in adoptions. Compassion and patience are recommended, as any transition can be both stressful and confusing for these already strained animals. Accidents and misunderstandings can and do regularly happen, until a new bond of mutual respect can be established.

Despite our goals to help rehome as many needy animals as possible, we still consider it a personal disservice to the Shar-pei fancy and community to promote dogs with extremely risky temperament issues or life threatening medical conditions, so said this network cannot always empower the guiding force, jurisdiction, enforcement, or control necessary to prevent unsuitable pets from being rescued or adopted. Both volunteers and prospective owners are strongly encouraged to disclose personal intentions as clearly as possible, to reduce the risks of future rehoming, unexpected loss, or unnecessary harm to the prospective pet and/or adopters. We encourage all pending families to thoroughly check all stated information before committing to a new adoption. Most of all, we highly recommend you realize now the limitations of your expectations, as there are no 100% guarantees or perfect evaluations for every scenario or lifestyle.

PERSONAL NOTE: These listed pets, shelters, and rescue group pets are not personally rescued by Tina Wissen, her prior kennel name, Starburst Shar-Pei, or business name, Tina Wissen's Design Center LLC, therefore, she will not be held responsible, liable, or be personally handling the health, welfare, contract negotiations during any pet adoptions. We have created this venue to promote each dog's rehoming needs to our viewing community seeking breed education and owner assistance. Please read our contact us page and mission statement for a more detailed explanation of our virtual goals.

In general, rescue is not for the emotionally unprepared or psychologically instable. As much as we care about the future of each and every homeless pet, we do not endorse adoption homes or rescuers that "broker" or become "animal collectors" by willingly harboring numerous unadoptable pets with indefinite sanctuary plans. Responsible rescue must stay focused on realistically meeting life and death decisions that sometimes involve cruel and heartless realities, and most importantly, on realistically supporting only those hard working people that dedicate their lives to save the lives they can, with the firm intentions to place these rescued animals in homes that know or are willing to be more dedicated Pei owners. This does not mean we won't share your pain over any losses.

As we expect every affiliated organization to thoroughly and honestly evaluate all incoming pets for health and temperament issues, we can also empathize in the personal drain from the stressful nature of such rescue interactions. For personal concerns in the health and well-being of all volunteer associations, we encourage our peer rescuers to realistically moderate their anxiety and emotional involvement over the difficult issues related to the fact that not all homeless pets we encounter can be saved or guaranteed successful placement. Rescue is not a competition or popularity contest. We will do our best to see that all adoptable Shar-pei get as much help as we can provide to find them a more responsible home. Please read our rescue facts page for more information.

Suggestions, complaints, concerns, or comments will be addressed ASAP! We do not support rescue groups that engage in spamming or commercial interests involving selling Shar-pei. Please notify me regarding any material in this web site that does not meet your standards for family enjoyment! I look forward to hearing from you. DISCLAIMER: This network pledges to do its best to fairly promote the needs of several different shelters, organizations, and individuals, but we cannot held responsible for their actions nor will be held liable for evaluating, authorizing, and/or approving adoption any of these listings. While we may promote regional independent groups in general, we do not promote any other group's listings unless personally evaluated. We will do all we can to promote and secure sponsorships for any needy adoptable animal, but also reserve the right to reject or decline listings that we deem as unadoptable or unsuitable for network compatibility. Not all organizations or individuals listed on this site share the same evaluating and euthanasia guidelines. Prospective adopters are encouraged to learn more about the prospective dog and agent before any adoption contract is signed. Please read our network disclaimer for complete details.
