Shar-pei Rescue of VA Inc. - helping rehabilitate and re-home shelter Shar-Pei, Shar-Pei in situations of cruelty and neglect or simply families that can no longer care for their Chinese Shar-Pei. We are an IRS 501c3 approved organization. Duke: I have a shar pei named Duke. I got him for free from the flea market about 4 months ago. I couldn't leave him there, as I think they were going to get rid of him permanently. He has some eye problems and requires the entropion eye surgery. As we have researched the breed, we have come to find out that we cannot afford to take care of him the way he needs to be taken care of. He needs to be on a special diet to keep him from smelling and he also needs to be properly house trained. He has the peeing problem when you pet him. We have tried the common methods and have gotten some success but we don't have the time to do it properly all the time. He has all of his shots and he has been fixed. He is fun loving and loves kids. He is very protective and challenges people when they walk by our house. He's not overly aggressive toward strangers, but he gets up and stares them down. He is a cool dog.

Mary Christmas: her rescuer is currently recovering from surgery and not actively rescuing at this time, just maintaining all her personal and foster pets until she's back on her feet. Mary is a female mix (maybe with black lab) dropped off in her yard christmas morning, hence the name. She has been fully vetted. I hope her many wrinkles show up in these photos. She is probably not even a year old, very playful.
