California Shar-Pei Adoptions

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Adoptibility, placement suitability, and breed pureness are subject to individual perception, and cannot be guaranteed by this network. Not all organizations or individuals listed on this site share the same evaluating and euthanasia guidelines. Prospective adopters are encouraged to learn more about the prospective dog and agent before any adoption contract is signed. Please be sure to read our network disclaimer and owner education pages to learn what you should expect and determine prior to choosing your next Shar-pei pet.

CALIFORNIA RESCUE GROUPS: These are featured listings of the independent rescue groups in your area. Please visit their individual sites for a complete list of all available pets. Please also read their adoption policies and requirements.

Melanie: Hi there. My name is Melanie, and like so many others here, I came from a shelter in Southern CA. I also needed eye surgery, which the shelter did not have the resources to get done. So here I am and getting ready for surgery on my eyes and to be spayed. I am a very pretty fawn horsecoat girl, but you probably could already tell that from my photo. Again, like so many others, I was a stray that nobody came to claim. It’s hard for us to understand how our humans don’t care enough to come looking for us. You can bet if something happened to you, and you were my guardian, I would do everything in my power to find you. In fact I am so loyal I would give my life for you, because to me you are worth it. I am looking for a family who thinks that I am worth it and is willing to make a lifelong commitment to me. Please…if you can't adopt, become a Guardian Angel.

Please visit California Shar-pei Rescue for more information on adopting Melanie. As of 5/07/08, this rescue group has a total of 26 Shar-pei available for adoption.

Beau / Bo: 12-18 month old male cream colored Shar Pei. He is good with other dogs and is probably a 'mini' (about 35-40 pounds at most). He will be neutered and up to date on shots before adoption. Beau is quiet (not a barker) and playful - he loves to lick and bounce around and everyone that crosses his path falls in love! He is in need of entropian surgery for his eyes. But what he needs most is a loving home! Update: We've found that Beau is quite a baseball fan! His foster family's kids have found he has quite a knack for fielding and retrieving baseballs. If you are an Angels fan (or any team for that matter) or have a little league player, Beau might be the perfect companion for batting practice or just watching the game!

Please visit Pei People for Shar-Pei and other mixed breed adoptions in southern California and Nevada. As of 5/07/08, this rescue group has a total of 8 Shar-pei available for adoption.

PUBLIC ADOPTION PROFILES: Most dogs listed here may have only a few days, sometimes weeks, to find a new home. Those dogs listed in kill shelters may be in danger of euthanasia. All listings are subject to change without notice. If you can't find what you're looking for, please visit our listed rescue groups for other available adoptions and for help on choosing the right pet for your family.
